Bio
Dave Hakkens è un designer dei Paesi Bassi. Designer industriale di formazione, ama anche realizzare macchinari e video. Il suo obiettivo è semplice, «cercare di migliorare il mondo creando cose». Non importa che si tratti di un video che offre spunti di ispirazione, di macchine per il riciclo della plastica o di un progetto di telefono.
Project
Ogni anno vengono buttati via milioni di telefoni cellulari rotti o obsoleti. Nella maggior parte dei casi, sarebbe sufficiente riparare o sostituire un unico pezzo, poiché tutti gli altri componenti sono ancora funzionanti. Invece si butta via il telefono, e il motivo è uno solo: i cellulari non sono creati per durare. Phonebloks è composto da componenti separati, da unire con un clic. Ogni elemento ha una sua funzione: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, batteria, display, etc. I componenti non funzionanti possono essere sostituiti con componenti nuovi. Se serve un aggiornamento, il principio è lo stesso. La modularità consente anche di personalizzare il cellulare in base alle proprie esigenze.

Dave Hakkens is a designer from the Netherlands. Although he is trained as an industrial designer he also loves to build machinery and videos. His goal is simple: "Try to make the world better by making things". Whether it is an inspirational video, machines to recycle plastic or a phone concept, it doesn’t really matter.
Project
Every year millions of mobile phones are thrown away because they are broken or obsolete. In most of these cases, there is just one part that needs repairing or upgrading and all the other parts work fine. However, the entire phone will be thrown out for one reason: mobile phones are not designed to last. Phonebloks exists of separate components that can be ‘clicked’ together. Every component has its own function i.e. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, battery, display etc. Broken components can be replaced with new ones. Need an upgrade? Same story: replace that specific component with a new one. Modularity also enables you to personalize your mobile phone to your needs.
